Meet SingMates choir leader Trix Maeder

SingMates leader Trix is a singer and teacher who is passionate about sharing the power of singing and making music together. She’s fascinated by how singing together creates connections and trust, can help people overcome anxiety and grow confidence, encourage open-mindedness, authenticity, empathy and respect towards others.

Trix can draw from a pool of more than 20 years of performance experience, as a lead vocalist on stage and in the studio, vocal arranger, co-songwriter, as well as from her background in Vocational School teaching.

Trix also offers private singing lessons for adults maevon music, a voice and guitar studio that she operates with her partner Sascha von Kaenel. It is located at The Piano, Centre for Music and the Arts.

Originally from Switzerland, Trix and Sascha moved to Christchurch, New Zealand in 2018. They started maevon music with the idea of offering lessons and programs to adult music lovers who always wanted to sing or play themselves but somehow didn’t get the chance to really get into it.

Sascha and Trix believe that singing and playing music together is simply part of being human. We are all born with music. It has the power to connect us with our soul and with each other. So it doesn’t matter how old you are or what you’ve been told about your musical talent: You should just go for it and make it part of your life!

When the couple isn’t teaching, they share their love for music on stage with their event band Joy Frank.
